A different kind of art therapy.

The Art Dominatrix offers a different kind of art therapy—one rooted in discipline, disruption, and radical care. Channeling decades of experience in sculpture, performance art, and education, she transforms creative resistance into momentum through a durational practice of critique, intervention, and embodied support. Mistress firmly guides her charges through creative unblockings, where kink becomes care, and power dynamics are reclaimed as tools for growth. Prioritizing accessibility, she cultivates a rigorous yet compassionate space for —especially the queer, neurodivergent, neuroqueer, and trans communities—to claim agency, dissolve barriers, and grant themselves full permission to step into their power.

The Art Dominatrix is an alternate persona of the artist and educator Elizabeth Folk. Elizabeth is an Associate Professor of Art & Design at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, CA. She has 15 years of experience teaching visual literacy, sculpture, installation, time-based art, critique and discourse, and professional development courses at the university level. She has viewed thousands of BFA and MFA portfolios, juried university exhibitions, and served on many admissions and hiring committees. She is experienced with power play and psychological domination in many roles and contexts.

Folk has exhibited at venues such as the Denver Art Museum, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, the Torrance Art Museum, Highways Performance Space, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Contemporary Art. She serves on the board of Foundations in Art: Theory and Education (an educational association dedicated to the promotion of excellence in the development and teaching of college-level foundation courses in both studio and art history), and is a member of the College Art Association, the California Faculty Association, Cal Poly Faculty/Staff Pride, and Cal Poly Faculty/Staff Disability Association. Folk earned a BFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and an MFA from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

The Art Dominatrix offers discounted services for neurodivergent, queer, trans, and bipoc folks.

*You must be at least 21 to book a session. Art Dominatrix services are not available to current students or recent alumni (must be 5+ years graduated) of Elizabeth Folk. Cis men require references. Mistress reserves the right to refuse or to discontinue services at any time.
